April 12, 2019How to know if they’re safe
Summary
Oat flour seems to be showing up in more gluten free products then ever. But even if a package is labeled gluten free, we have to dig further to determine the source of the oats used in the flour.
Jules Shepard (aka GF Jules) has the perfect example. Kellogg’s has come out with an Eggo Waffle labeled Gluten Free on the box. However, the oats in the ingredient label don’t mention gluten free oats. Even if they did, we have to investigate further to determine if the oats are from a Purity Protocol to truly be deemed safe. Confused? Here are 2 resources to help:
From Jules Shepard: Find out why & how to find safe gluten-free oats
From Gluten Free Watchdog: Oats produced under a gluten-free purity protocol: Listing of suppliers and manufacturers
