Hitting the Slopes Close to Home

Liberty Mountain Ski Resort in Carroll Valley, PA is a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders. Located just over an hour from Baltimore and DC, it an easy distance for a day trip. In addition to it’s proximity to metropolitan areas, families with novice skiers will find their ski lessons and intro slopes can’t be beat.

Gluten Free Options

Skiing makes you hungry. And packing up the ski gear doesn’t leave much room for (or desire) to pack food too. Luckily, Liberty has some great gluten free options.

Chef Josh took great care of us during our visit and was very knowledgeable about gluten free options and preparation. As always, please ask for a Chef and let them know your dietary restrictions.

Liberty Mountain Resort Alpine Market

The Alpine Market

The best (and most plentiful) gluten free dining options at Liberty are found in the Alpine Market. Just steps from the slopes, the Alpine Market is cafeteria-style dining made up of various stations. Cuisine ranges from wraps to soups and chilies to rice bowls.

Tip: We made sure to put our order in before the peak of the lunch rush. Hungry skiers and snowboarders start rolling in to each between 11:30 – noon. Because of the extra precautions, you can expect longer then normal wait – especially during peak times.

Cross Contact protocol includes a glove change, paper put down when making sandwiches, pizza, chicken tenders and fries on parchment and baked in the oven. Gluten free pizzas are made in the back.

Gluten Free offerings include: red and white chili, pizza, wraps, sandwiches, rolls, chicken tenders, hot dogs and hamburgers, McCain Smiley Fries, veggies and ranch, pre packaged salads, fruit salad, yogurt, Lays chips, David’s Brownies, hot chocolate.
